Rally Against Senate Bill 5 and Other Activities
Hello everyone,
I am sure you have all heard by now that a bill has been introduced in the State Senate, Senate Bill 5, that will repeal collective bargaining for public employees, including teachers, police and firefighters. This bill will weaken the middle class in Ohio and kill jobs. You have probably seen news coverage of protesters rallying in Columbus, but I wanted to let you know about activities that are being organized locally.
On Monday, Feb. 21st, the Ohio Education Association will be organizing a rally outside the Dayton Convention Center while Senator Peggy Lehner will be holding a by-invitation-only town hall inside. The rally will begin at 9:15am, please consider joining us as we stand together in support of our public employee friends! Here is a flyer for the rally.
Organizing for America will also be holding a phone bank at HQ on Monday evening from 5:30-9pm. They will be calling constituents, urging them to contact their state representatives and senators and urging them not to support this bill. If you are interested in attending, please email Ron Irvine at irviner@dnc.org.
Letters to the Editor are also a great way to get the word out about this economy-crushing bill. Please considering sending one to the Dayton Daily News or to your local paper.
Thanks and I hope to see you Monday morning!
