Volunteer Opportunities and Other Announcements!

I hope you are enjoying your three day weekend! Now that Labor Day is upon us, there is a lot of campaign work to be done. There are lots of ways you can help MCYD some of the campaigns going on this fall. Here is how:

Help Needed at MCDP Picnic! We will continue with our yearly tradition of working the beer truck. I need volunteers for the following time slots: 4-5pm, 5-6pm, 6-7pm, 7-8pm and 8-9pm. Please email me back ASAP if you can help!

Junior Jackass Classic! It is time for our annual miniature golf fundraiser! This year the junior will be held on September 15th from 5:00-7:00pm at Hazzards Miniature Golf, located at 6240 Brandt Pike in Huber Heights. The cost is $15/person and $25/family. Please join us for a round of miniature golf, a hot dog, chips and soda! Young Dems T-Shirts will be available too.

The Nolan Thomas for Kettering City Council Raceis in full swing now that Nolan has officially been certified to be on the ballot, and needs volunteers to help knock on doors. If you are interested in helping Nolan, email his campaign at Friendsofnolanthomas@gmail.com. You can also sign up to help on his website, www.nolanthomas.com, and can follow the campaign on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/#!/votenolanthomas

We Are Ohio is looking for volunteers to help spread the word to Vote NO on Issue 2 (SB5). If you are interested in volunteering please email Niki Vonderwell at niki.vonderwell@gmail.com

You may have heard about the GOP's attempt to make voting harder in Ohio by limiting early voting, requiring photo IDs, and even going as far as not requiring poll workers to tell voters where their correct voting locations are (and no I did not make that part up). This is all in House Bill 194. If you would like to help stop this by signing a petition that would put a referendum against this on the 2012 ballot, please contact Ron Irvine at irviner@dnc.org. If you are also interested in circulating a petition he can set you up with that as well.

If you have any questions please let me know, and I hope to see you between now and Election Day!
