Dayton City Commission Swearing-In Ceremony

On Monday, Dayton City Commissioners Joey Williams and Nan Whaley were sworn-in to serve another term on the Dayton City Commission. Commissioner Williams was elected to a third term, and Commissioner Whaley was sworn-in for a second. After being sworn-in, Commissioner Williams spoke about the importance of embracing change and working together as a region to tackle the problems facing the Miami Valley.
Commissioner Whaley stressed that now is the time for Dayton "to embrace the enormous challenges before us."

"We Daytonians have an opportunity. We have an opportunity to embrace the enormous challenges before us. We have an opportunity to redefine our neighborhoods and what they will look like the next 40 years. We have an opportunity to finally seize our wonderful system of rivers and create education and recreation uses for us and future generations to embrace. We have an opportunity to become a leader in the Midwest by making our thoroughfares and streets more bike and pedestrian friendly. We have an opportunity to work together and create serious, meaningful regional partnerships with our neighboring communities." (You can read the full text of Commissioner Whaley's remarks on her blog)

Congratulations Commissioners Williams and Whaley! We wish you both much success during your next term!
